FOTD: Hello Kitty

21 Feb

Hey Glams!

My friend Nisha suggested this color palette a few months ago. It’s been awhile since I did a cartoon-themed look, so I figured February was the perfect time to try a Hello Kitty look. The little girl in me wanted to don Fuchsia Fever lipstick that day, but the adult in me decided to play it safe & go with Trendy Mauve, so that way cut crease can get the attention it deserves, LOL! Enjoy…

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

SHADOW: I applied matte white e/s (from the Wet N Wild Pride palette) over the inner two-thirds of my lower eyelid. Then I applied matte hot pink (from the Shany 120 palette) to my outer v area. Then I went back in with a lighter shade of pink to help blend the hot pink into the white e/s.  To create the cut crease, I used my pencil brush to draw a line of matte black e/s along my crease (WNW Greed palette). I used my Sonia Kashuk large crease brush to blend the black into matte peach e/s on my brow bone (also WNW Greed).

OTHER DETAILS… I used CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to define my eyebrows & L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my eyelashes. I defined the inner rim of my waterline with Wet N Wild eyeliner in white & used Wet N Wild cream liner in black on my upper lashline & outer waterline.

CHEEKS: Ulta single e/s in “Sparks” on the hollows of my cheeks & Black Radiance sheer finish blush in Soft Honey on the apples.

FOTD: Tis the season…

21 Dec

This is me practicing my surprised face for Christmas morning…

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

SHADOW: I covered the inner third of my lower eyelid in matte white e/s from the Wet N Wild Pride palette that I’m finally getting around to using. I blended the white e/s into a red mica powder that I made myself (using ingredients from CoastalScents.com). I call it “Red Hot”!!! Next I used my crease brush to apply matte grassy green e/s (Shany 120 palette) to the crease area. This wasn’t dramatic enough for me, so I used my pencil brush to apply my favorite shimmery, dark green e/s (Wet N Wild Snow Sprite palette) along the border between the red & green, to cut the crease a little harder. I used a clean brush to blend the green into my brow bone area & then applied matte peach e/s (from the Wet N Wild Greed palette) to my brow bone.

OTHER DETAILS… I used Wet N Wild Arch Envy brow wax & CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to define my eyebrows & L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my eyelashes. I defined my upper lashline with Wet N Wild cream liner in black & Wet N Wild pencil in white on my waterline. I used a pencil brush to smudge green mica powder just below the waterline. I also made this e/s using products from Coastal Scents. I call it “Envy Me.”

CHEEKS: Ulta single e/s in “Sparks” on the hollows of my cheeks

LIPS: Carmex + L’Oreal H.I.P. lip gloss in Inviting

FACE: Nada

FB Flashback: FOTD Lemon-Lime

14 Oct

I’m especially proud of this FOTD because it was my first attempt at the elusive cut crease. I’m not sure if the dark green is sharp enough to qualify as a “cut crease”, but maybe the makeup police will let it slide. 😉 S/O to my work boo, Amanda, for suggesting that I use these colors! Oh & pardon the blur, these pics were taken with my cell phone… ENJOY!

PRIMER: Coastal Scents Shadow Worx matte e/s primer

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (lower lid) & Black Bean (on the crease)

SHADOW: I used Coastal Scents mica powder in Canary Yellow on my inner lid (tear duct area). To create the gradation effect, I blended the yellow mica powder into a matte greenish-yellow e/s (from my Shany 120 palette). Then I blended the yellowish-green into matte lime green (also Shany). To create the cut crease, I drew a line along the crease of my eyelid using the NYX pencil in Black Bean. I applied matte teal green e/s (also Shany) on top of that line, blending it up & out. Finally I used matte camel (from the Wet N Wild Vanity palette) to highlight my browbone.

FOTD: Blackstar

8 Aug

At your request, I FINALLY attempted a black smoky eye. I’m not gonna lie, I thought about it long & hard before I tried it… fear of the unknown, I suppose. In the end I’m glad I did it, even if I am a bit freaked out by my own reflection in this makeup. LMBO! This is a harsh look, so it’s best suited for a night out on the town. Oh and be sure to get a good night’s rest & or use eye drops to reduce the appearance of redness. The “recipe” actually calls for matte black, but I live for sparkle, so I had to keep it Sham-ly 🙂 Ya feel me? ENJOY!

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Milk (tearducts) & Black Bean (the rest of the lower eyelid)

SHADOW: I covered my lower eyelid & crease (except for my tearducts) in sparkly black e/s (WNW Greed palette).  I applied matte peach e/s to my brow bone (WNW Greed palette) & used sparkly off-white e/s to highlight my tearducts (WNW Lust palette).

OTHER DETAILS… I used CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to define my eyebrows. L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my eyelashes. On my waterline I used WetNWild eyeliner pencil in white. I also used a pencil brush to smudge sparkly black e/s around the outer edge of my eyelid.

FACE: Estee Lauder pressed powder in Deep (05)

CHEEKS: Wet N Wild Blush in “Heather Silk”

LIPS: Carmex + Estee Lauder lip gloss in Rose
