Halloween FOTD: Z-Kitty

9 Nov

HEY Y’ALL! I know it’s been forever, but this was my FOTD for Halloween 2013. One of my friends threatened bodily harm if I refused to share it with you, so here I am… late as hell, but obediently sharing ūüėČ This look is very similar to the¬† Zeta Love FOTD, so if you haven’t seen it, you can watch that video here. I did use different products to achieve the look below, but the general concept is the same. Enough chatter… onto the makeup!

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

SHADOW: I started by applying a piece of tape to the outer corners of my eyelid, for a nice, crisp line. Then I applied CS Hot Pot in Cornflower Blue (a matte light blue e/s) to my crease. The Cornflower Blue served as a transitional color to blend the deeper shades of blue into my skin color. Next I applied the darkest shade of blue, Indigo, to my outer v. Then I faded the e/s from dark to light, going towards my nose. From Indigo into Electric Blue, Electric Blue into Cornflower Blue and Cornflower Blue into Powder Pink (which is actually a matte white e/s with slight pink undertone). I blended the upper edge of my crease using Oatmeal Tan (a matte camel e/s). BTW, all of the aforementioned e/s are matte ones, from the Coastal Scents Hot Pots collection (pictured below). Finally I used the frosty champagne e/s from the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional e/s quad in Canyon Stone to highlight my brow bone.

OTHER DETAILS‚Ķ¬†I used¬†NYX Cosmetics Slim Lip pencil in Espresso (820) & a matte dark brown e/s from my 88 warm palette to fill in my eyebrows. Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal mascara in Glam Black on my lashes.¬†I defined my upper lashline & waterline &¬†created a wing on the inner & outer corners using a tiny liner brush dipped in Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black.

FACE: For spot correction I used, Ruby Kisses 3D face creator in Level 11. Then I dusted a light layer of L’oreal True Match Powder in Nut Brown (C7) over my face.

CHEEKS:¬†Ulta¬†single e/s in ‚ÄúSparks‚ÄĚ on the hollows of my cheeks & Black Radiance sheer finish blush in Soft Honey on the apples. I dipped my finger into the frosty champagne e/s from the L‚ÄôOreal¬†Studio Secrets Professional e/s quad in Canyon Stone to highlight the highest part of my cheekbones.

LIPS: I filled in my lips using NYX Cosmetics Slim Lip pencil in Nude Beige (857) & topped it off with Femme Couture Super Juicies Lip Gloss in Creamy Pink.

Cattify Yoself Boo!

I did not record a video of the cattification process, but you can find a plethora of YT videos dedicated to this endeavor here. You’ll need a thin liner brush, some black cream or gel eyeliner w/ tremendous staying power & some black liquid eyeliner. I applied Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black to my nose using a liner brush. Then I dipped a sharpened pencil into the same eyeliner to create the whisker follicle dots. To create the whiskers I used Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Liner in Blackest Black. I purchased the blue leopard ears from Walmart for under $2 (last year). It came with a mask, but who needs that when you’ve got great makeup?! HINT: the time to buy Halloween supplies is the 1st week of November, so go make your preparations for next year. Por ejemplo, I nabbed an INCREDIBLE Mardi Gras-esque mask w/ peacock feathers & sequins for under $5. I’m not sure how I’ll use it yet, but the Mobilian in me just couldn’t say no.

FOTD: Election Fever

6 Nov

Not much to say about this one. I was feeling extremely patriotic this morning. That sentiment gave birth to a red, white & blue FOTD. Enjoy ūüėČ

Notice something new? This is my “new” 28 pan of Coastal Scents Hot Pots. I will discuss it in greater detail in the near future.

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

I used a mixture of Blue My Mind (a pearly royal blue) by Milani & Indigo Hot Pot (a matte royal blue) to define my crease. I used Electric Blue Hot Pot (matte true blue) to blend the outer edges of the blue crease. On my brow area I used Oatmeal Tan Hot Pot.

FOTD: Too cool for school

1 Jul

As the title indicates, this FOTD is a mashup of cool colors. Remember my review of the Ruby Kisses HD gel eyeliner? Well, I went back to my local BSS & got the dark purple one. It’s called violet shimmer & I love it! I have no plans to do a formal review of this one, so just know that in my humble opinion, it’s the bee’s knees. If you’re looking for a muted purple eyeliner, I highly recommend it. ENJOY!

PRIMER: Mary Kay Eye Primer

BASE: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce & Tangy

SHADOW: I applied a matte white e/s to the inner half of my lower eyelid. I blended that into cerulean blue (from the Black Radiance Retro Chic palette) on the outer v & matte navy blue (from the WNW Pride palette) in the crease. I used matte peach (from the WNW Lust palette) to highlight my browbone area.

OTHER DETAILS… I used matte blackened purple e/s from the WNW Lust palette to fill in my eyebrows & L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my lashes. I defined my upper lashline & waterline using Ruby Kisses HD gel liner in Violet Shimmer. I traced a thin line below my waterline using Wet N Wild eyeliner pencil in Cool Green.

FACE: Estee Lauder pressed powder in Deep (05)

CHEEKS: Black Radiance sheer finish blush in Soft Honey

LIPS: Lancome Le Rouge Absolu lipstick in Pink Diamond + CO Bigelow lip gloss in Pink Mint

Miahsje’s Senior Prom & FOTD

28 Apr

This pic of my cousins & I was taken about 2 years ago at Stone Mountain, Georgia during one of our legendary girl weekends.

I generally refer to them as my little cousins, but I’ve recently come to realize that Miahsje ain’t little no mo’! I’m not sure how someone can simultaneously be sad & proud, but that’s the best way I know to describe what I’m feeling right now. MiMi is one of the great loves of my life, so when she asked me to come help her get ready for her senior prom, I gassed up the whip & rode out. I wanted to share the family moment w/ y’all but I knew this post would be picture-heavy, so check out this video…

PRIMER: Mary Kay eye primer

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

SHADOW: To coordinate with MiMi’s royal blue dress, I wanted to create a blue smoky eye. I started by applying Milani’s Blue My Mind e/s to the majority of her outer lower eyelid. For a pop of color, I added matte, hot pink e/s (from the Shany 120 palette) to her inner corner.¬† After blending that out, I used matte camel e/s (from the Wet N Wild Vanity palette) to cover her brow bone area. Then I went back in w/ my pencil brush & applied a frosty champagne colored e/s just below the arch of her eyebrow for added drama (@ her mother’s request, LOL).

OTHER DETAILS‚Ķ¬†I used¬†CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to fill in Miahsje’s eyebrows & L‚ÄôOreal Collagen Mascara¬†in Blackest Black on her lashes.¬†I used Wet N Wild cream liner in black to define her upper lashline &¬†Ruby Kisses HD gel liner in Teal Shimmer on her waterline.

FACE: I primed her skin using Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer & applied a light dusting of Estee Lauder pressed powder in Deep.

This look incorporates three of my favorite things in life: blues, greens & the all important CUT CREASE! Enjoy… ūüôā

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

To create the cut crease, I used my pencil brush to draw a line of matte navy blue e/s along my crease (Pride palette). I highlighted my brow bone area w/ matte peach e/s (from the WNW Greed palette) & used my Sonia Kashuk large crease brush to blend the blue into the peach. I used the sparkly white (Pride palette) to highlight the inner corner of my eyelids.

OTHER DETAILS… I used CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to define my eyebrows & L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my eyelashes. I defined my upper lashline & waterline using Wet N Wild cream liner in black.

FOTD: Mystique

9 Jan

If you’re not familiar with the X-Men comic book series, this look may not make sense to you, but because I enjoy exposing you to awesome things… I’d like to introduce you to Mystique (or Raven Darkh√∂lme), the infamous shape-shifter of the X-Men franchise. Like most of my FOTDs, this¬†was meant to be my interpretation of her overall look. Mystique’s mutation enables her body’s cells to morph at will. She impersonates other people from their hair, to their clothes, to the sound of their voice. They say a pic is worth a thousand words, so this¬†is what she looks like in her natural form. If you haven’t seen them already, I HIGHLY recommend that you check out the X-Men movies. In addition to being entertaining, they’re also socially relevant; dealing with topics such as political unrest, patriotism, discrimination, diversity, terrorism, anti-semitism, loyalty & honor. Enough of that, let’s talk makeup…

PRIMER: NYX HD e/s base

BASE: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

SHADOW: I applied matte navy blue e/s, from the WNW Pride palette, to the inner & outer corners of my lower eyelid. Then I used a frosty, lime green e/s to cover the center of my lower eyelid. I used matte peach e/s (WNW Greed palette) to highlight my brow bone area. For a pop of color, I used my pencil brush to apply NYX Ultra Pearl Mania e/s in Jade under my lower lashes.

OTHER DETAILS… I used CoverGirl single e/s in Smolder to define my eyebrows & L’Oreal Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black on my eyelashes. I defined my upper lashline & waterline using Wet N Wild cream liner in black.

CHEEKS:¬†Ulta¬†single e/s in ‚ÄúSparks‚ÄĚ on the hollows of my cheeks & Black Radiance sheer finish blush in Soft Honey on the apples.

LIPS: Lancome Color Design lipstick in Trendy Mauve + CO Bigelow lip gloss in Magenta Mint

FACE: Estee Lauder pressed powder in Deep (05)
