Product Review: AP Olive Miracle Moisturizer Lotion

30 Nov

Until recently I had not tried African Pride’s NEW Olive Miracle product line, but I was definitely curious about it. I’ve been using their leave-in conditioner to roller set my hair for about eighty-three-and-a-half years, so I was pretty confident about trying their products. While browsing Shelli’s PJ stash earlier this month, I discovered that she had some unused Olive Miracle Braid Sheen Spray. I decided that this was a sign from above (typical junkie rationalization), so I scooped some of their hair lotion during my next BSS run.

Comments: I paid $2.99 for this 12 ounce bottle at my local Sally’s. It has a lotion-y texture (neither creamy, nor watery) & a tropical fruity smell. I have used it twice, on dry, frizzy, stretched out hair. One was a dry roller set, the other was a dry twist out (see pics below). I have read mixed reviews on this product, so I really didn’t know what to think. Some bloggers said that the formula was so light that they needed to reapply every night, while others complained that it weighed their hair down & made it feel too greasy. In my experience, my hair felt a tad greasy to the touch for the first 12 hours after application. I was asleep for 6-8 of those 12 hours, so that side effect, in my opinion, was negligible. I like the fact that I didn’t have to add any oils or serums to my hair to make it shine the next morning & the lotion was all soaked into my hair well before the end of the day. 24 hours later (@ bedtime) there was enough product remaining that I didn’t need to reapply. It worked much better on my twist out than it did my roller set. In addition to being dirt cheap, this stuff is great! Giovanni gives it 5 stars & recommends that you give it a try!

BTW, these pics were taken after work & as you can see, AP Olive Miracle Moisturizer Lotion did not weigh my hair down at all. Giovanni was bushy & bossy ALL DAY LONG! Oh and, I’m pleased to announce that I’m about 16 twists away from mastering a dry twist out. Old dawg… new trick! 😉
