14 Dec

Come Clean

  • Packaging: 5 out of 5
  • Efficacy: 4 out of 5
  • Overall rating: 4 stars

My comments: Come Clean is a silicone free, sulfate free, paraben free, protein free, glycerin free, cruelty free, organic curl cleanser. It has a light citrus scent & unlike most sulfate-free shampoos, it produces a frothy lather. I paid $11.99 for this 12 ounce bottle at Target. NOTE: It may say “moisturizing”, but this is a clarifying shampoo. My hair was squeaky clean after using it. I know it’s not a good thing for your curls to “squeak” b/c that means they’ve been stripped all oils, but it had been 17 days since my last hairwash, so Giovanni was in need of extreme cleansing. If you have product build-up, hard tap water, or you think your hair needs a fresh start, then you would probably benefit from using this curl cleanser. Just be sure to deep condition afterwards. šŸ™‚

FYI: I read a few product reviews (via NaturallyCurly.com) that stated Come Clean stripped their hair & made curls feel like straw. I can’t support this allegation because I used it on three separate occasions & never experienced that side effect.

Also I DID NOT dilute Come Clean in the same way that I dilute my poos w/ sulfates, but I did try to concentrate the application to my roots & hairline.

I use this shampoo for the same reasons that you do. However, if you use it in conjunction with the detangling conditioner Knot Today from Kinky Curly, you will avoid the crunches. After a wash with this shampoo you are supposed to replenish the hair with Knot Today and the combination feels soooooo good! I have yet to try another conditioner after using Come Clean.

I love that you call your hair Giovanni.

I have used this before and I think it def made my hair “too” squeaky clean. It probably would do really good with hair that has a lot of product build-up. Curls clarifying shampoo did me a lil better. It’s for a pretty good price tho ( come clean).

@M: I haven’t tried Curls hair products yet… I might put that on my list of things to do for the spring.

@Danielle: My hair has a completely different personality than mine, so I figured I should give him his own identity, LOL!
