By day I’m just another pencil pusher, but by night I’m an aficionado of hair, makeup & all things glamorous. This blog is basically an outlet for my hobbies & a platform for the free exchange of ideas with other makeup addicts, product junkies & curly girls.
DISCLAIMER: I am not an esthetician or cosmetologist… my beauty knowledge is attributed to decades of divadom, watching YouTube videos, reading other beauty blogs & of course old-fashioned trial & error.
Oh & for all you “Naturalistas” in the blogosphere: I am newly natural. I transitioned from December 1, 2009 until my final chop on July 28, 2011. My go to style during this long-term transition was the rollerset/roller-wrap; it was also my staple style back in the permie days. I kept rocking it because it helped me to blend the different textures seamlessly & it lasts longer than other hairdos I’ve tried. I do occasionally wear my natural curls, especially in the summertime, but I’m still experimenting when it comes to twisting & braiding.

Hey boo! Thanks
BTW… you’re friggin hilarious (in addition to being beautiful & bipolar)… I can totally hear you saying EVERYTHING you type on your blog. LOL
You had me as soon as you mentioned how long you transitioned. That alone gave me some much needed hope. I’m subscribing to this blog:-(
I’m glad I could be of service to you
Hang in there mama… those permed ends will be gone before you know it!
Hi sham,
I’m a dark-skinned female, thats searching for an eye shadow that make my eye’s pop. I’m very dark around my eyes with heavy eyelids. N Chinese eyes. I love eye shadow. I just don’t know what color to get.
Happy New Year Hattie! Before I make my recommendations, I have a few questions for you:
- Are you going for a neutral look or a colorful look?
- Do you like frost/metallic finished e/s or do you prefer matte?
- By heavy eyelids do you mean a monolid (like Brandy Norwood)?
I was wondering where you are from? Your hair looks a bit “Spanishy”.
hablo Español, pero soy “gringa” LOL!
I know you had difficulty finding the macadamia straightening balm. Well guess what …I found Some at an actual body shop in Dallas, TX. And to make it much sweeter it was only $6 so I bought TWO bottles. Let me know of you need me to ship you a couple of bottles.
Hey I stumbled upon your site via youtube! I am transitioning and I have been since July 2011. I am new the the natural world, so I am just soaking everything up like a sponge. I wanted to see how people did their roller sets. You did a great job! I am going to do it today. I tried bantu knots last week. It was very pretty. It looked more like a straw or rod set. Anyway, just wanted to stop by and share my experience. I am also a blogger but I rant and ramble about dating. LOL!!!!
I love this blog! Glad I found it! Cool and inspirational to be glam!
I must say that I am excited that I found your you tube page. I am fairly new in the transitional stage, it will be a year in July. I did not do the chop yet( I plan on chopping some off next week) I have just been growing the perm out. I have not went through all of your videos but I was wondering what products do you recommend I understand it is a trail and error thing I am very new to the product world, I have seen a lot of great reviews on the Cantu Shea butter leave in needless to say that will be in the collection. What do you do to achieve the “straight” look, right now I have been using a hot comb and flat iron but my hair is no longer taking to that method. Thank You and continue to be blessed
What products did you use while you were transitioning? I absolutely love your hair!!!
